EK Hatch Antenna Replacement
Edit: car is already painted so it's to late to shave it
i really watned to go with the Metra Intenna
Hey H-Ters,
My car is currently in the body shop right now, and I have been thinking if i should shave my antenna or not. If I do, I plan on replacing it with either a Metra Internal Antenna or an EP3 roof antenna. Does anyone here have any experience with the Metra antenna? If so how is the reception and is it easy to install and do you reconmend it? Also, has anyone done the EP3 roof antenna on an EK hatch or any other type of roof antenna that you would reconmend and if you have do you have any pictures you could post up please?
any other suggestions are welcomed, and thanks for your opinion/help in advance

I've always liked the EP3 antenna, but I don't know if something like this would be worth the work... It would look good on an EK hatch IMO.
I prefer my antenna being built into my rear window above the defroster lines, but I think only the Acura EL had that for 1996-2000, Not the Civic.

Either way you go, your not going to get as good of reception as you did with your factory antenna. I am a former car audio installer and those internal amplified antennas suck.
I have heard that a few people have gotten replacement straight mast antennas and actually put them horizontally behind the dashboard and have gotten great signal.

i had the metra antenna in the same location as jonsteR in my hatch. it was a bitch to run it back there. i sugest putting it above your rear view mirror. somone else on HT put his there. its virtualy invisable and a lot easier to mount there. i think my wing didn't help the reception in the back hatch either. the EG blockoff plates do work for the EK, i have one on mine right now.

i was thinking of putting it behind my rear view mirror also but i already plan on putting my alarm antenna there too. and having 2 antennas there might be too much.

would this antenna work if you stick it in the wing? lol
my old spoon style one was hollow in the center you can with ease fit any size antenna inside of it.

the antenna in my sol sucks. i was thinking about a Metra Antenna, but wasn't sure. doesn't really matter to me though. my reception is so bad with the antenna i have right now, it should only get better.
