Harder shifting Normal in 94 Ls Teg?
I have read post on the forums about auto tranny's and how they should feel. I have heard contradicting info. Here's the deal. Looking at buying this 94 integra ls 4 door and it has an automatic transmission. I test drove it when it was cold (engine) and it shifted into gears a little hard. Punchy i guess. The engine dident rev high or anything like that, just a little hard when the tranny would catch. Also, when using the shifter ****, When you engage d4 it did kick a little.
Upon visual inspection, I noticed a green/white dried on substance that was around the seal where the tranny connects to the block. I am still planning on getting it inspected by a acura dealership before purchase.
Can someone confirm that the tranny is visible in plain sight down and to the left of the block on the ls? Just wanted to make sure I was looking at the right thing.
The car seems to ride fine and is in immaculate condition. Grandma's car, garage kept, not a scratch. Anyway, Is the transmission shot? Am I gonna get totally screwed if I buy it . Its a smokin deal at 3500. 130k all stock, no accidents, clean cfax, new tires.
Thanks for helpin out.

During cold weather, it is normal for the transmission to "kick/shift" hard. Be sure to ask if he has changed the transmission fluid yet.
The green/white substance could be coolant. Ask if the headgasket/timing belt/water pump has been changed yet or not.

during cold weather it's always good to let your ride run for at least 10 mins before driving it so that it can warm up. doing this might help with the jerky shifting. a friend of mine has a auto civic and hers does the same thing in the cold. she put a remote start on it and the problem went away(warms up for 10mins). not sure about the leak though, definitely get it checked out before you buy like you said. i'm no expert with auto's but this is just my .02
werd, thanks guys, you guys are the definative resource for advice. I am going to get it checked out and get a compression test, all fluids checked, a diagnostic, and whatever else they do in a standard exam.
Anything else I should request they do?
Thanks from Arizona, where im running around in a T-shirt and shorts
