Default ZC Motor?

Sup everyone. As you can see by my login name I'm obviously new at dis. Anyone in here know what years the ZC motor was made? I just got an '88 CRX and it's got a 1.6 ZC motor and I'm just trying to figure out what year it is. It's a pretty quick car but I'm trying to see what or where to look to determine why the idle is fluctuating when the car is warmed up. It fluctuates between 300-1000rpm. Occasionally it would almost completely die. My friend told me that it could be a vacuum leak. But I don't know where to start.

Anything you can provide I'm more than happy to listen. Thanx!

to find the year of the motor look between the second and third cylinders by the exhaust manifold where it bolds to the head.

i don't see it. you have any idea what years that engine was made? how about the fluctuation in the idle. any idea what that maybe caused from? does anyone know of a good way to test for vacuum leaks? I was told to use windex, something that causes bubbles. but if it's a vacuum leak wouldn't it just suck inwards? I need help! All I wanna do is get this thing on the road with no problems. It's damn embarassing to have all that power and die at the light if you know what i mean.

All suggestions are welcome!

Well the ZC had been made in Japan for years 85ish to at least the mid/late 90's. you most likely have a 88-91 engine. The only way to tell the year was explaned above. As far as the Idle do a search it common place I know when it happend on my Friends ZC it was his fast idle Valve after he replaced it the zc was fine.. Also welcome to Honda-Tech

fluctuating idle = problem with EACV or in rare instances, could be low coolant level - vacuum leak will give you high idle, not fluctuating
