Holy Crap!! Just changed my address on my insurance...
and my yearly insurance increase by $1600 per year!! I am so disgusted
Looks like I need to look into a beater and change the primary garage for the R back to my old town. This is the first time I have ever been tempted to get rid of the R. I can afford the payments, but it still could be better spent in other places, like a house.

Don't know what the interstate laws are in the US, but you can do a few tricks here....
For example, Calgary is cheaper than Toronto or Vancouver. If you ever lived in Calgary, get a driver's license here, buy/lease a car here, and you insurance will be dirt cheap. You can even go as far as letting your insurance company know that you will be "temporarily" moving to another city, and your insurance may go up slightly..
That's how I'm doing it. In fact, in Toronto, there is a huge population with a horrible driving record. What they do, is get plates and ownerships registered in Quebec(another province) and their insurance is almost 50-70% less!

I ve been living in orlando for about 6 months, and just recently filed a claim with my instrance company, and they raised my insurance by 1200 a year!! They said it had nothing to do with the claim, just my location. Its crazy, since im only up here for college, what a PITA. Damn insurance companies.

Yeah, just called them to switch it back and they were asking for that all in writing, but before took over the phone. Needless to say the conversation was not very friendly.
Hate to say it, but I might be calling it quits. I have been thinking about a really nice home lately and this might have been the straw that broke the camel's back. I am comtemplating a used Eclipse 2G like I had before and saving like a madman for a house (The average price for a home in MA is $300K. Needless to say that is an average home and I am not a fan of the average. Well Enough of my rant. I will probably post my final decision later on.

I hear that everyday at work. When people move closer to a big city their premiums skyrocket...
best thing to do is find a friend with an address outside or at least in the outskirts of the metropolitan area where you live and use their address.

With the current exchange rate, that is around AUS$7,000 or 1/6 the value of the car! I'm paying AUS$1,100 per year (FYI - I'm 27 - yes, an old geezer)....which would be about US$550.I'm amazed that insurance companies even insure 16-19 year olds, to drive cars such as ITR's....here in Australia, you simply couldn't get insurance - regardless of how much $$$ you have to blow!
I bought a beater car and also raised my deductibles to $1000 and my insurance went down from $3284 to $3000..
Try raising your deductibles and mayble you'll save $500 - $600.. Remember to keep $1000 in the bank for a rainy day.

Increase of $1600!!! Holy ****, that is a huge premium. Did you move into the city or out? I remember a friend of mine was looking to buy a 01 Nissan Frontier and got a quote of $3000 because he lived right on the edge of Mission Hill. He was moving to Norwood in a month or so, where his insurance dropped to $1000.
