a1 pistons will bump compression to about 12-1 with an a6 head

check the diameter of the A1 front snout where the crankshaft timing gear goes on and make sure it matches the A6 - some A1's have different diameter (some are 22mm and some are 24mm) than the A6 - you will need to use the crankshaft timing gear from the A6 - compression ratio with A6 head, A6 head gasket and A1 pistons = 10.78:1

13.128963812527295:1 would be ur compression ratio

with a a6 block
a1 (p29) pistons
y8 head with a y8 headgasket

ummmm ok. proper tune and the right fuel would avoid that.

we tried this same kind of transplant with a friends motor...(d16a1 crank, pistons, and rods). it woul have worked, but the timing belt was too small...then we tried a d16a1 one, and it was too big. i guess you have to find a happy medium to make it work

hmmmmm i would imagine the a6 belt should work. if it doesnt just use a a6 crank with the a1 rods and pistons. still the same effect since the a6 and a1 have the same displacement. he is just going for the a1 pistons for the compression and whatnot
