weird humming sound on freeway speeds
get an annoying humming sound when im driving fast, i have a lowered car on rims, someone told me it could be loose bearings, got no idea what that means, and whether or not that is the problem
this happened to me awhile ago after i lost control and spun out a couple times and it was doing the same thing...humming at higher speeds...it was one of the rear wheel bearings...
Ok here is what you gotta do... jack your car up and take the wheel at 9 and 3 (think of it as a clock) and wiggle it, if there is a little play then your wheel bearing are fucked. They are about 60 bucks a peice and if you have pressed in rotors (96-97 lx model accord) it is a bitch and half to change them since you'll need a press. If not then it should be an easy fix. Onn and yeah.. you gonna keep driving on bad bearings you gonna mess up the whole hub assembly and in worst case scenario your wheel will lock.... hapens rarely but possible
if it sounds quiet and get louder the faster you go... it could be you tires... when tire are rotated in the wrong way they tend to make that sound.. and on lowerd cars.. tire wear out quick so one side of the tire might be geting mor contact than the other .. this happend to me once .. the guys at the shop put my right rear tire on my left front... it make a wierd humm sound around 60 mph
