Default tig for home uses.

I did a search for tig and I found that most of the time a Tig was being used at a shop of some sort. I would like to hear from people who have a tig at home/garage. What do you have to do to accomodate it as far as power sources, gas ect.
Another question, what are you pros opinion on the Mill Maxstar STL?

That info is here, use the search button. I use a Miller Syncrowave 250 at home, wired into 230V with no problems. Sometimes you can just plug it into the electric dryer outlet (or even move that outlet into the garage.)

Me and a buddy just installed an esab heliarc 252 tig in my garage a few weekends ago. Just added a new 50A breaker to the box and wired up a new plug. I know at full load this welder will probalby need more than 50A but I never plan on using more than 50% load.

I have a CK-Systematics(Snap-On) mig with the tig pack and it was old when I got it about 12 years ago. It will run on 110v or 220v and I have welded up to 1/8" mild steel with it on 110v/30amp no problem. I've also done some stainless on 110v without problems. No exotic features, but it works great if you don't have 220v available. A couple of years ago I bought a new Lincoln so I could do aluminum but I still use the old one when 220v isn't an option. Good luck!

I got my syncrowave 350, my christmas present, hardwired just today. The cable alone from the main breaker box to the little 100A 230V breaker box for the welding machine cost $200!! only a 30 or 40 foot run of it.

So far, so good. First night to use it. I'm running on a little 80CF tank.

I have the Miller Maxstar 200DX and use it at home, works on 110v, 220v, or 3 cycle 440 hehe (never tried that).

I  it.
