Default Front Axel

I did a search and came back with nothing too useful....

Well, I have 02 EX and the front axel started making grinding/squeeky noises evertime I turn the wheel to the left, I am thinking that its broken or something on the left side. I wanted to know if it could be any other reason why its making this grinding/sqeeky noise? Also, I have the extended warranty and wanted to know if its covered if the axel needs to be replaced.

I went to the dealership and the idiot over there told me the soonest they can see my car is Monday...I was like dick*ead, I also called to ask and they dropped my call...very incompetent i might say, I'll have to try making an appointment for when someone can go since i work all day. (just felt like releasing some of the frustration)

Any thoughts are gladly welcomed....Thank you in advanced!

you sure it's not your brakes? loose caliper bolts causing pads to touch the rotor? could be loose lugs..

just ruling out possibilities..

most likely it is the axle...ive gone through a few sets in my days..in fact my front 2 have gone to ***** lately and have NO money to fix them yet...

not too sure if you're warranty covers it...you have an 02...seem to me its a little too soon for your axles to be going out....mines last atleast 4-5 years...

no vibration, just drifting to the left from time to time...I guess i'll have to replace them even if its not covered by the warranty. (I really hope not)

put it to the test

part 1, visual test
look for black sticky grease inside of your wheel, look for tear boots, leaky boots
which are signs of axle problem

part 2, road test
find a emtpy parking lot, put some load on one side of the car by turning the car in tight circle about 35-40mph, if it's clicking, it's the ***** in the axle going bad, you pretty much needed a new one.
and do the test on the other side.

it could be more things, such as tie rod ends

probably an axle. take 15-20 mins to change, and you only need a jack and some hand tools. so dont bother paying for a dealership to change it for you... unless its free/warrantied.

got it fixed...it was not the axel, it was the rack & pinion which was a bit loose and was rubbing...after it was greassed up and tightened the squeek is gone
