You need a special tool for it. I know Craftsman makes one, as well as all the big shot guys (like in that link Snap-ON)

I would like to know how it goes as well, when you compress it does the top piece just fall out (why you need the magnet to get it in time) or how does that work? I know theres no screws for it. Unless if its the adjustment screw. Oh im so confused.

its the tiny keepers that tend to jump out or fall out.

That Snap-On Spring compressor is mainly used when you don't want to remove the head. Most valve spring compressor look like a "C" and I know Honda sells a special adaptor to fit over the retainer that you use with the "C" shaped compressor.

Getting them apart is easy, putting them back together is a pain, but I found putting grease on the vavle stem where the keepers seat helps make them stick in there until you release the compressor. Takes about 3-5 minutes per valve.
