A local (also on here actually) has a prelude shell without battery or anything, being parted out. I'm after the sunroof, DID search, somehow found some tiny bit that lead to a guide discussing popping the sunroof and doing all this junk.

Can the sunroof be removed without the battery connected? I mainly need the panel, not the motor or frame...

yes, you can use a hex key straight up into the roof (you'll see where) to manually move the sunroof open and closed.

 

That's why there is a small round hole in roof trim (under round black cover).

Open it and find appropriate wrench bit (sixtangular one). Just turn and sunroof will open
