Default i-vtec on 05 type-s

i got a question, my friend and i were driving and we hit vtec, but it doesnt sound like the 04 vtec. my friend said it sounds muffled, is it because they changed up the intake manifold? someone please enlighten me!

If he has the stock air box then you wouldn't hardly notice it. Once you put an intake on it you'll have no probs hearing it.
