Setting timing without engine started
How do you set timing without starting the car? I'm gonna check the distibutor screw first, but if that isn't the problem, I'm gonna check to see if the timing is off. (I'm referring to the problem I posted about a few days ago......car won't start and is backfiring......can't seem to find that post tho)
I searched but I couldn't find a direct answer. My dad is a mechanic so I can get his help, but I'd like to at least have an idea of what I'm doing for myself.

what motor is this? if its dohc check the timing belt to make sure it hasnt jumped a tooth,
if that is good, then you really cant do anything else without starting the motor and using a timing gun.
