My Civic rattling apart
Does anyone have a sure solution of rattling? I heard dynomats (or whatever its called) or tightening of trunk lid works but never really looked into it. The rattling seems to be getting worse and it is just embarassing to even bump anything because rattling is so loud. Weird thing is, when my trunk lid is open, almost no rattle, but when its closed, you would think the lid makes all the rattling, but it sounds like the entire rear end is rattling, including the bumper area. Driving a 96 Civic coupe with dual 12" JL subs in a box. Any help appreciated.
check out dynamat and make sure ur bolts are torqued to spec via a helmes manual for the body and everything. common causes for rattling in the audio spectrum include the tails, the absorber in the bumper (the styrafoam behind the skin), a spoiler, and most def. the license plate frame and or license plate itself. check the preceding out and def go for some dynamat...use "extreme"
just my two cents

is there anywhere you guys know that has a good price on dynomat rolls? I was planning to dynomat my hatch/trunk area... I was looking for the dynomat extreme (silver) type.. how much more expensive is that than the regular matte/black dynomat? my car rattles too (3 - 12's) it sounds great inside.. but on the outside it car sounds like its about to explode.. plus dynomatting is supposed to inprove sound inside too rite? how much is it a roll large enuff to cover the trunk/hatch?
Dude I did it ghetto style and it works great!!!
Just cut a piece of cardboard to fit flush behind your license plate. . .and get rid of of any license plate frame you may have. . .
also get some electical tape and wrap it around the hook that the lock latches on to when you close the trunk.
The only rattles I have is from the trunk itself and you can't even hear it. . .BTW I'm running a Kicker square 12" Try it out man. . .it's one hell of a cheap way to do it.

hmm dynomat or not.. people keep saying to lose the license plate frame.. well i kinda have pride in my university/alumni status.. hence i display a license plate frame.. is there anyway to get rid of rattles w/o losing the license plate frame? thanks
you might want to go out and buy some strips of foam, or those rolls of foam that you could stick to the back side of the licence plate frame
thanks ill give that a try... maybe ill try bolting the bottom of the license plate frame to the license plate too.. the only problem i see is it might rattle against those 2 pegs on the bottom of the license plate that hold it
