Default Lifespan of porterfield R4S and stock rotors, street and track driven?

I got the porterfields about 4k miles ago, and have done one track day on them so far....obviously it's a matter of keeping your eye on them, but does anyone have experience with how many track days you can expect to get out of a set of also daily driven R4S pads? I'm wondering if i need to get some spare pads and possibly rotors before the two day speedtrial event at VIR...thanks!

Gonna depend on the weight of your car, how you drive, and probably what tires you are running (street vs. R compound). I had them on my Civic for my first three track days, plus a year of street and auto-x, and they were only about half gone. But I wasn't really hitting them hard until the third event, and then they started to fade towards the end of the sessions. Other folks in heavier cars with race tires have gone through a set in a day. They'll probably chime in.

For the last VIR event, I got some R4 pads for the front. They didn't fade, and barely show any wear at all. I understand that they are harder on the rotors than the R4S, but they didn't seem that bad to me.

I now run the R4S on the street and swap to the R4 on the front for the track. I will get some new rotors before the 2/23 event, and probably bring along a spare set, plus some spare pads. I should also be getting some Goodridge stainless steel brake lines, and some new fluid.

Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes. Wether you use them or not spare pads and rotors are always a very good item to have around. Brake wear depends on your car, tire, ability, and driving style. I saw Corey Jacobs run a set of R4S' beyond the backing plate in two days at Summit Point.

Keep an eye on the R-4S if you are using them at the track..
Last time I tracked with those.. the pads started to crumble.
This was on a civic coupe.

You should buy the R-4 and use those for your track days... they are a lot better.
