Cool.

Be a little careful, some clubs I've seen have been really picky on the camera mounts, to make sure a camera doesn't poke someone's eye out or something.

The IO Port one is twice the price

It is pricey but the polyurethane mount does help with vibration a tad, the adjustability is awesome and it's nice to have a complete kit that comes with a nifty secure strap.

I have yet to see a group deny/disallow various questionable mounts yet. I've seen some real shitty ones that were put on after they passed tech (front window! suction cup mounted ...).

Just bought the same mount, to use on a c-pillar bar as well. It actually clamps on pretty tight so it should be secure enough. I haven't got the chance to try it out yet.

For a C-pillar mount, the BH mount is good (I used a slightly different one than the one in the photo). I used it on my C-pillar bar. Used it for months and sold it to Bbasso.

The only reason I went to the IO-port is because I needed to mount it to a cage and needed more adjustment.

I have the exact same set up and it works great.
I have the same J's racing C-pillar bar and that same camera mount in the link.

why would you want to mount a camera from that far back? there have been several posts on a dyi kit folks have done that mounts to your head rests. much more affortable and better for recording.

Because those are dangerous and you will not get away with that in a driving school. I use a wide angle lens on my camcorder and adjust the zoom a little bit and the view is pretty damn good.

for the average driver on this board, that setup is just fine. anyone driving 9/10ths or greater on a track wouldnt be posting such a question

I'll sell you mine for $20 + postage. It works with the ioport bar & i'm sure it would be fine for the C's as well

I got the ioport mount for Christmas. It's never been disallowed by any group - porsche, vette, itrca expo, etc.

the bogen mount that is sold from BH Photo IS the same bogen mount sold on IO Port (with their name on it) for 2X the price. The only difference is the mount which the IO port base has uses U bolts under the bar mounted to a flat brace, and on the BH Bogen head with the Superclamp it grips down on the bar with a c clamp mechanism. The superclamp version will hold over 100 pounds, does not turn or spin with a cam corder mounted to it, and I have never failed a tech at any driving school or SCCA event because of it. For the price it is equivilent if not superior to the IP port version because of its ease of install and removal, and price point.

Well, is not about being the average driver or driving 9/10ths on a track is about failing tech inspection. Anyone that has a camera either mounted with a suction cup or a home made bar attached to a headrest probably put it on after tech-inspection, which therefore has defeated the purpose of going through TECH.

I have both the camaera mounts that Bbasso has suggested and the one that that Chris F recommended. The one your curious about uses a mounting bracket called the "super clamp". Bottom line...you can clamp the **** out of that thing and it simply will not budge. I've mounted that mount, with my Sony DCR-VX2000 to my MUUUUggggen spoiler and took my car up to 100+ mph several times and the thing never budged. I've also mounted it to other places on my car with great results.

Super clamp = quick on and off mounting point.
Chris F recommendation = more of a long term mounting point being as there are four bolts and nuts to loosen up when ever you want to move it.

Another benifit of the Super Clamp is that you can purchase different arms for mounting points. Since I do videography on the side, I have used this super clamp with 6" arms, 1' arms, and 3' arms respectively. If your going to be doing film work, get the one your asking about. If your going to be tracking the car with only a few simple camera angles, then go with the one Chris F suggested. I hope this explanation helped you out.

Aloha,
Brandon
