Default d15 vtec not mini me

I've decided to go ahead and buy the d15 vtec instead of going with a mini me swap. I can pick up the engine for about 500. I wanted to know if anyone had this swap already, and what they thought of it, also I know I have to change out the ecu and need to know what ecu I need.
anyone have any time slips of this engine. just wondered. Thanks

A TON of people have it...its basically a slightly more powerful D16Z6. In hatchbacks they have been known to run high 14s/low 15's, in other models mid-high 15's. Great motors for boost also.

Honestly, yes. It is much more responsive in my opinion.

You will need the proper VTEC ECU and you will need to run the wires for VTEC oil pressure and the spool solenoid.

You need a P08 ECU or a P28 ECU chipped with P08 maps for it to run properly. If you need the ECU, I have seven virgin P28 boards. I could chip it with the proper P08 program for less $ than the P08s usually go for.

Yeah, let us know in 2006 how it runs.

I'd say so. More HP, better cam, same rods and pistons.

What is the limit on a d15 stock internals?

Are there still strengthened internals available?

my friend had it, responds really quickly, it was in his cx hatch, everything else is stock except a ecu chipped for that engine I would say like a mid 15s car.

I'm currently running a VX, which I believe is the d15z1 or y1 motor. Obviously it's not a performance machine by any means, but what can be done to this motor? I've done the searches but nothing really ever comes up for this motor, and probably for good reason. I've thought of a b-series swap, but d-series just seems more challenging and more fun. Being that the car is already vtec equipped, which sohc vtec head will fit on the car? If I do plan on swapping heads, which ECU should I be running?

get either a z6 or y8 head, y8 will give you a better compression read bauleycivic's mini-me write up

I have a D15B VTEC in a 94 DX hatch with CAI & a Header, w/ a P28 ECU. It's better than the stock motor, but I can't wait for boost, I figure that 180-200whp w/ a greddy kit would be very nice.....

I have the D15b vtec in my 89 crx si with the P08 ecu. It runs really good pulls really hard on my friends 95 ex with intake and exhaust and i have intake exhaust and header. Revs really smooth.

In bauleycivic's write up, his first disclaimer was not to do this swap on a vx as the compression will be too low. bah! another wall. Wonder if that means I should run the Y8 or Z6 head with a turbo kit

Now if swapping heads isn't an option due to lowering the compression, would the vx head be a good base for mods?

I've got a couple of them one in my 4 door and one I just put in my sol.

I would not buy one over a d16 if they were both the same price as the d16 will be easier to fix ect

but there good motors.

They are not however more powerful than a d16 as it is rated at 128hp but the tq curve on the 16 is alot better

One of my friends says they have roller rockers but I have yet to crack off the valve cover and look fearing broken RTF bad ju ju will befall

Here's a question I couldnt find a definitive answer to. I have the ability to pickup a low mileage 97 y8 head and ecu. Includes everything.

I want to use this for my 95 cx but am wondering if it would be a huge pain because of the diff in obd1 vs obd2? Do I need new injectors, extra o2's etc or should I just look for a z6 head?
