R in my sight
2-3 weeks ago I asked certain questions regarding the purchase of an R. First and foremost thanks to everyone who contributed to my thread. My follow-up and final two questions regarding purchase is as follows, 1.) would you guys purchase an R form CA or from a state that gets alot of rainfall/snow? Might sound wierd but when people always look for a car to do a resto, they usually want a CA/AZ rust free car. Given that an R is pampered buy its ownwer, of a rain/snow state, would there be a possility of rust creeping somewhere in the R? Hopefully I make some sense and once again thanks in advance.
You'll have to handle this on a case by case basis. If you have the $ to be picky (18-22K) just wait for the right opportunity to get one that's been pampered.
Believe it or not, there are people who refuse to drive these things in snowy conditions. Actually, come to think of it, they are the smart ones who own more than one caR.

Buy a rusty one for a few grand less
TX/AZ/CA and other states that don't use salt on the roads will fare better.
Just about any 2000/2001 car will not show much rust, especially not on the body.
Just buy the damn caR already!

Rain and snow do next to no damage to a modern car. It is salt that is a killer, and CA does not use salt to the best of my knowledge. In fact, the sun can do a hell of a lot more damage than rain or snow.
Look for a car that has been garaged all of its life if you want something pristine.
