Mine me: question on belt squealing and aem cam gear.
hi huys/gals
i recently did a ex head swap on my dx bottom
about 2 weeks after daily driving this motor, im getting a helacios squeal from 1 of the belts. the only 2 i have are the timing belt and the alternator. im thinking it may have something to do with the weather? it was just recently gotten very very cold. will this affect the tightness of the belt? it only sgueals around 1000-2000 rpm's and once the car is really warm, its not very consistent, the squeal only happens occasionally.
im going to be putitng in a aem cam gear. with about 750 miles on the new timing belt, will it be cool if i just swap in the cam gear. my question is weather the belt will have stretched or anything in that time frame.
let me know what you know
Robert

If your timing belt does not have excessive wear marks or no signs of ripping or tearing. you will be fine with the cam gear.
as for the noise sometimes when a belt gets wet it will squeel but if it happens al the time i would look to be sure that the alternator belt is tight.

IF it was a new belt, it has probably strethed into its permanenet length. Most likely your squeal is that

I did a mini me. Mine does that when it's cold too, but after the car warms up it goes away. Like you, I'm still looking for the problem.
