Default USDM front end in Japan?

ok this isnt the best indication but it is still interesting. I am a huge fan of the super deformed pull back cars in japan called Choro Q. aka penny racers here in the US.

there are two 90-91 CRXs made. one regular black and one special one in silver. the silver version ahs more detail painted on it.

as you can see it has th ZC hood. but look closer at the bumper. it does not have the wrap around lights. isnt that the US bumper?

sorry i assumed that JDM bumpers all look like the SIR. so is teh JDM ZC front end just the US front end with a bump on the hood and the wrap around corner lights bumper is only for SIR?

also if I gert a ZC hood will it fit on a USDM front end or do I need teh JDM SIR front end? thanks can you swithc hoods from SIR to ZC if you have the SIR front end? thanks

If it has the ZC hood then it is not an SiR, and therefore would not have the SiR front with the wrap-around signals.

EDIT: The ZC hood will fit the USDM front end and the SiR hood will not fit the USDM front.

oh ok that explains a lot. I thought that ALL jdm CRXs have the SIR front end (not the hood but the bumper) Yeah i know that it is a ZC if it has the bump just wasnt sure which bumper it had. thanks. Oh So can you have a SIR bumper with a ZC hood?

No ZC hood with SiR front end......headlights are different that is why when you do a SiR conversion you have to buy everything.

Also ZC headlights don't have the "Nipples" on the headlights like we do and they are only 88-89, 90-91 all models (EF6,7,8) had wrap around lights and bigger headlights lights.

So to sum it up, the ZC hood will fit on your USDM with no mods the ZC headlights are similiar to your usdm but no nipples, they are made of plastic(prone to yellowing ) and only one bulb. It will bolt in to your USDM with no mods. A nice Jdm ZC hood will usually cost $175.00 plus shipping ($275.00) total. But for $700.00 shipped you can buy an SiR conversion (Bumper, headlight, corner lights, hood, fender, and radiator support). I have the JDM ZC hood and love it.

Im in japan right now and i win! jk, i see those wrap around corner lights on special edition civics/crx's every day. so those bumpers just didnt come on sir's. Ive been in japan for almost a month now, and i havent seen an SIR crx or hatch (88-91). They must be somewhat rare or something, cause ive seen pretty much everthing. And geez, do skylines get old. They are freakin everywhere. And they have clear corners here, with amber bulbs. The corners arent amber, jfyi, that hatch with the amber corners looks silly.

Right, lets clear this up....

What you guys call the "JDM" front end was NOT just on the SiR.

Think of it as the new and old front end, not the SiR, and ZC front end...

The 88-89 1.5x had what you guys would call a "USDM" front end, with no bonnet bulge.

The 88-89 Si (With a ZC engine) had the same front end as above, except with a bonnet bulge.

All SiR's, and ALL 90-91 1.5x's AND Si's had what you would call the "JDM" front end.

So basically, all Japanese CRX's made in 90-91 had the front end that you guys didn't get. The only ones that got the "USDM style" front end are mentioned above.

Hope that helps.

bfuller is the only one who has been correct thus far.

In '88-89, all JDM CRXes came with what you've been referring to as the "USDM" front. DOHC ZC models had the hood bulge.

In '90-91, all JDM CRXes came with what you've been referring to as the "SiR" front - not just the SiR model.

There were some 89 SiR's - which have the SiR front.

Yes it does have a b20vtec. I added my own little style to it. It doesn't match in terms of "JDM purity" but, I could give a **** less. The ZC engine was the first thing to go!

That's because Japan doesn't follow "model years" like we do here in the US.

In the US, new cars sold late in the year (usually beginning around August/September/October) are designated with the model year of the next calendar year - i.e., my Civic was manufactured on September 2, 1999 and sold in December of '99, but it is a model year 2000 Civic.

In Japan, they don't do that. If a car was manufactured in late '89, they just call it an '89 - whereas we would call it a '90.
