remove dash on 5th gen civic
how do i remove the gray area where the defroster switch and climate control sits? my deck was stolen last week and the evil basterds ripped out most of my radio harness making it too short to splice w/o removing that part of the dash
You can replace that whole cluster wiring harness for about $15 at the junkyard. Thats what I did after I got my car and the wiring had been hacked to bits for multiple aftermarket stereos and alarms by previous owners.
u just cant remove the gray piece...u have to take the whole dash out...meaning removing your glove box...lower dash console...pass. side airbag...instrument bezel surround ...etc...then once you have the whole dash out its screwed in from the back ... took me a total of 2 1/2 hrs to remove replace and put back in
Take out the center under the radio. Then pull out the radio. Up under the AC controller there are 6 screws on the AC leave the small ones alone and take out the 2 bigger ones. Disconnect the wires and pull it out. If you arent flexible enough to get under there you are going to have to take out the dash.
P.S. the dash is easier to back in than to take out...have fun taking off the stearing wheel

u dont have to take off the steering wheel...ive done this like 5 times...u have to disconnect the steering column height adjuster...then remove the silver plate underneath the steering column....this will give you sufficient room to lower the column w/o removing the wheel....i did it 4 days ago
