D16Z6 intake manifold VS D16Y8 Intake Manifold
All motor application , CRX SI motor with ZC PISTONS. about 11:1 compression. What are the advantages an disadvantages of one vs the other. I tried searching and couldnt find a definite answer. Is there really that big of a difference between the Z6 and Y8? thanks in advance
all i know is that the y8 intake manifold has a larger plenum than the z6. havnt seen any dyno graphs on this to know how much gains you get.

If you can "feel" a difference, I would be amazed. On the dyno, you may find a slight difference. probably not enough to worry about

i have heard that the y8 is bigger over all and that the y8 gives more midrange and teh z6 has more topend power. so i say go by what your car/motor is setup for

y8 has shorter fater runners and a larger plenum. This intake manifold gives a few HP on higher RPM, and loses a few HP in lower RPM. Typical from this style of manifold. How do I know this? Well I installed the Y8 manifold on my finacees car which happens to be a Z6 del sol. gained 1-2 WHP from 5,000 to 7,200. It lost between about 1-3 WHP below approximately 4,000. Also another thing to note is it will drastically change your AFR. It dropped it from 13.3-13.5 ish down to the low 12's (all these gains are with it being tuned). a more highly modified Z6 should see better gains.
these are the mods on the Z6 this manifold was tested on....
-AEM CAI
-Ebay header
-60 MM throttle body
-Y8 manifold
-hondata gasket
-Rage exhaust

Well the z6 head would give you better flow but the y8 intake manifold is a better manifold. The z6 head with the the y8 intake mani is a sick set up. Its the setup i'm most likely going to using on my dx motor.
Z6 runners are larger than the y8. Y8 has more plenum volume. When ported it's really preference the difference is very little
