need help on choosing car
I'm looking at purchasing a car in the near future, i've been doing a lot of research and I think i've narrowed it down to 3 cars... RSX s, Integra GSR, or the ITR. I want an extremely reliable vehicle which I know all of these will be. I don't plan on doing any racing, might take it to the local 1/8 mile drag strip every once in a while but nothing serious. I don't plan on dumping too much money in the car, no FI or anything major like that. I like the 05 RSXs but it's more than double the price that I can get a 01 GSR. Half price sounds quite appealing, i've also seen 01 ITR's advertised for around 15 to 17K. Would the ITR be a better choice for someone who doesn't want to spend thousands of dollars improving on the cars performance. Any input from you guys would be very helpful seeing how I don't know anyone who owns a ITR. I'm new to this forum so please forgive me if I said anything that shows my ignorance on the subject.
Best performance for the price, the ITR will win hands down. The RSX will be a bit more comfortable around town and is a nice car (my brother has one) but is no where near as edgy or driver oriented as the ITR. I wouldn't even consider the GS-R in that group of three.
The ITR shines on the track. If you're not going to do any track events, you will probably be happier with the gs-r. The ITR also loses marks as a daily driver because it is such a big target for theft and vandalism.
I vote RSX as well. I love my R, but unless you really want the R, you're probably not going to want the added road noise, lack of cruise. I guess you could modify the R to be more like that, but then you'd be better of just getting a GSR. Do you need the extras that come with the R? Or better off with creature comforts on the GSR... if the GSR is your ticket, then cough up the extra few and get the RSX.
Ah hell... to each his own...
Do not get the Type R if you are just in need of a daily driver. The ITR was not made to just be driver around town. It is a type of car that demands constant attention to protect it from vandalism and theft.
I would suggest the GSR if you are looking for a good vehicle with good power for moderate modifications. With the money you saved by not buying an ITR, you can make the GSR a much faster car on the 1/8 mile than the ITR. The ITR is better suited to be driven on tracks, not strips. The GSR also comes with more creature comforts like noise deadening material, leather seats, and cruise control.
I also like the RSX because it has more power and better comfort and luxuries.
So if money is an issue, get the GSR. But if you can afford it, get the RSX.
