X-mas list part 2 - giving list
Since it's better to give then receive, what is on your list of gifts to give?...
Mine are:
- to my father: a 67-72 Camaro - so we can both go vintage racing
- to my wife: a new wedding band (not a cover band, but one she would wear on her finger)
- to my daughter: music lessons, preschool, college fund, and not an less important, a go-kart.

To my Dad: Continued good health, so he can keep enjoying finally being able to do all the things he has wanted to do, and so we can keep enjoying him!
To my Mom: Good health period, so she can enjoy her time now, too.
To my wife: A '99 10AE miata, and her racing license.
To the mother-in-law: Finish restoring her '71 VW Squareback so she can drive it, rather than have it take up over half of her garage for yet another year!!!!!!

Gave my parents 8 Riedel Bordeaux / Cabernet crystal glasses.
Then made them dinner... (1) carrot-ginger soup with butternut squash (2) proscuitto-wrapped scallops over kale with a tomato puree (3) beef wellington over asparagus with bernaise sauce. Oh, and the 97 Jordan Cab complimented it nicely... I hate "traditional" holiday food, so that's why I take charge for holiday meals.
Gave my two cousins a pair of unoriginal $100 savings bonds.
Small family = very few gifts to give.

OK, I'll bite. What's an "Angel Tree"?

Basically here (and my step mom says its the same where they live), they set up trees in the mall or stores w/ kids' names on there and some of the things they want for Christmas (e.g. watch, pants size, shirt size, x-box, etc ...). You pick a kid and you buy based on their Christmas wish list. Honestly, it was the most fun I have ever had buying stuff, I highly recommend it.

If its a fantasy list...
I'd give my Dad a lifetime of cancer-free screenings (he's had 2 in a row now) and get his thyroid gland and part of his neck re-installed.
Then I'd replace the 1968 Road Runner that he had to sell shortly after I was born because he couldn't afford it anymore.
I'd give my Mom a painless, drugless cure for arthritis and a Jaguar (She's always wanted one).
I'd get Renee whatever she wanted, which would probably be stuff for everybody in her life but herself.
The kids would get college, wherever and as much as they wanted.
And I'd get my faithful old dog Moose a new pelvis. Poor thing can now hardly move his hind legs but still shoves a ball in my hand every day wanting me to throw it.
Scott, who's never heard of the Angel Tree, but will do it next year.
PS - If the war is still around next year, don't forget Toys for Tots. The USMC was very shorthanded this year and fell way below their goals. My Dad (USMC, you can't say "ex-Marine" 'cause once you're a Marine you're always a Marine) volunteered this year with his old unit but they still only had half the manpower they needed.

Dad got a Boost Guage for his Mini
Mom got a lap desk, becuase she can't move around as well as the rest of us
Brother got a Mountian Bike...he only crashed twice his first time out, so I was impressed

My angel tree gifts this year were pretty cool...
1. gave a Spiderman skateboard (if I could skateboard, and I was small enough to ride it, this would be pretty much the pimpest ride ever. SERIOUSLY cool)
2. remote-control Subaru WRX rallycar (small, but has interchangeable parts and stuff so you can customize it... and you can reverse the body on the chassis so the car can corner d0rifto)
Pitched in on getting one nephew a new bicycle, the other a snowboard, and a Hot Wheels track for the smallest one. Kids now need tracks to play with their Hot Wheels? Sheesh, Laguna Seca's corkscrew was constructed on my bed out of a pillow when I was little...
