Default Door lock problem...kind of odd

Ok, I've gotten into the habit of hitting the door lock button as I step out of the car every time I get out. Earlier today I went to hit it, and the button clicked like it's supposed to, but the door didn't lock. I hit unlock and it made the sound as if it was trying to unlock (though it was already unlocked), but would not lock. The passengers side does the same. Once I close the door, I can lock it with the key, but the switch on the door won't lock it. A little later it locked like it was supposed to, but then it went back to not locking.
Just yesterday I noticed that the door button won't lock the door If the keys are in the ignition, but when this happened the keys were in my hand. Any ideas?

(By the way, I did search, but couldn't find any info on this exact problem)

If it's really cold, somewhere in the linkage may be frozen. If not, you most likely have a bad electrical connection somewhere.

It is kind of cold, but it's been colder and not given me problems. I don't know too much when it comes to electrical type stuff.

When the key is in the ignition the door acted the same way I thought It was something to prevent you from locking your keys in, maybe somehow it thinks the key is in there? Or maybe it was just coincidence that I tried to lock the door and it failed and the key happened to be in the ignition. I don't know....suppose that's why I asked

Anyone else got any ideas?

When the key is in the ignition, the door cannot be locked with the switch on the driver side. I just noticed it's a feature to prevent locking your keys inside the car. I think it's just a concidence/feature Honda made. With out the key in the ignition, I tried to pulling the door handle and locking, it still woundn't allow me to do it.

So I just use the switch on the passenger door.

But on the 5th gen, it's different. You can lock the driver side door by pulling the handle.

sounds like either the lock motors or one of the linkages got jammed on something.....

those things get confused sometimes, you might just try taking the battery off for like 30 seconds....that will reset everything....

Yeah, I noticed the same feature, except it won't lock from the passenger side either. When both doors are closed and I'm driving or something I can lock the door, and when the door is closed I can lock it from the outside with the key, but for some reason now I can't just hit the switch, even when the key is out of the ignition.

Also, I know there's the little "ding - dong" sound when you leave the lights on, and when the key is in it does the 4 beep when the door is open, but is it supposed to do the 4-beeps when the door is open but the key isn't in?
