Im buying a new set of headers soon & want to know if i would get more horsepower out of the 4-1 or 4-2-1 & which is more for top end & low end?

I redline at 7,000 RPM in my Integra RS. Thanks!

SEARCH for info on this...a neverending debate.... 4-1 for high end performance, 4-2-1 for mid range performance, i recommend 4-2-1 for you're RS.

4-1 is better for a vtec or high reving engine. 4-2-1 is better for the non-vtec ( rs ) because of the low end torque (i'm getting a 4-2-1 soon). You can also have clearance issues with a 4-1 if your car is lowered.

Any more opinions? My teg is an auto too btw. They say the 4-2-1 gives you 9.4 hp, will the 4-1 be any different? Thx!

I would go with 4-2-1, I used to have them on my old LS and I liked them a lot.

if he already has decent low end power for a stock honda, shouldn't he be trying to work on high end hp?

everybody say's 4-1 makes more top end power, yet, with the exception of maybe an-r, all of the best power producing custom headers are 4-2-1. DTR, Hytech, SMS....and, the best off shelf header is either the Toda or Weapon R Race (which is a hytech or sms copy). both 4-2-1, people have to get off of this 4-1 crap. yes the dc jdm 4-1 is probably your best bang for your buck power wise, but, they get crushed within a few weeks of purchase. i'm 4-2-1 for life.

this is my whole thing- with a bseries honda motor.. yoiu must realize that you will never have low end torque lol. (obviously not true) but for basc bolt on motors blah blah... may as well work on high end as much as possible. however, the clearance issue is a big deal. spending all that money just to crush it closed seems abit rediculous. clearance is a big deal for us slammmmeeedddd folk...

here is a perfect example i have on my web site showing the difference between my 4-1 and a 4-2-1 header... on k20A type R engine. Yes a 4-1 will yeild a little higher peak power band.. but a 4-2-1 will yeild a broader power band.. for Racing purpose a 4-2-1 will pull a higher trap speed becuase HP does not peak out.. However with the right gearing a 4-1 header will have the same results...
