Default Some scary stuff! Brakes were activated by themselves.

Every now and then i get a flash of my ABS light, comes on for just a sec. One time my abs failed to activate under hard braking and my tires locked up. So when my abs light came on today i thought nothing of it. That is until when i was driving i had my foot on the gas, not even touching the brake pedal and the car suddenly lurched forward as if the brake pedal had been pressed. This happened just seconds after the abs light went out. What could this be! I don't want to be doing 65+mph and have my brakes lock up on me or somthing, anybody ever hear of this happeneing befor or know what it is?

there is a way to check your abs code just like your engine code. do you have a helm manual?

HA, you guys are just jealous you don't have the wonders of ABS. j/k I like it becuase i do most of my driving on the streets where i'm not prepared to do threshold braking. Because of that, if i were to get in a situtation where i needed to slam on my brakes i would panic and in a panic forget to take my foot off the brake, thus abs is more helpfull in real world driving situations. Also as just an amature driver and not a pro racer i have yet to master threshold braking and ABS is helpful until I have the time, vehicle to master such a skill. ABS has saved me many times. But i think maybe that flush is what i need to do. I will have to consult my shop manual. too bad its in pda fortmat.

But why would my brakes come on all on their own though?
