Best header for price?
Im looking into getting a header for my lude i just dont know what to get. I know brands like SMSP and Mugen have shown gains of around 20 hp to the wheels, but i dont have an extra 900 or 1,000 dollars to spend. I know theres DC and some of the Ebay brands but dyno's have only shown them to be around 5hp at the wheels. any other suggestions for me to look into? i searched and nothing came up. i wanna spend around 5-600. thanks
DC or ebay header gives us 5wph? If so, I'd take it for a cheap price. I don't know about all that gain tho so IM stickin with my stock one for now. DC
just save and get the best you can. you saved 5-600. so save for a couple more weeks/months. whats the rush?
im like you but saved up 860 so far. m going to keep saving for a mugen header. i dont have a problem runnng stocks for now.

i read up on some dyno's and it showed the mugen and SMSP gains of upwards of 20 at the wheels... could have been false but thats what i saw... how much does the greddy with 2.5 collector run for?
20 WHP is a crap load to ask of a header. Even with the best header you can only hope for close to 10-15. I would just save my money and buy something nice, and for the love of god nothing off of ebay, those are worse than stock.

Search for SMSP, Hytech, Prospeed is a little cheaper, but some are disappointed in it. I agree with saving your money for a good header. T1R came out with a header that is being produced for a couple of us that paid for it. All the companys that I mentioned have a 2.5" diameter.
Prospeed for the money is what i reccomend. It made more power then i was expecting on my setup. I still have a dip after vtec. When i get that fixed it should be good for even more power.

prospeed.
get the SS version, maybe look into a flex pipe and you shouldn't have any problems.
btw, prospeed, rage, an-r, and k-teller headers are all variations of the same design so you have some choices:
prospeed-power.com (or something like that)
kteller.com

i say go with T1R (Type 1 Racing). They're in the process of making header/exhaust for the 5th gen prelude. Their header is compared to that of the mugen..and yeah..their top performance!

are you going all motor? if not keep saving and boost!
if not i would still keep saving and get the best of line. no reason to rush and get something you wish you didnt.

dont even consider mugen, its just a name, every single graph of a mugen header i have ever seen does not do all that awesome...
in fact to ONLY dyno i have ever seen that a mugen outperformed the SMSP was jdogg's big header test that all you anxious idiots ruined.....and in that the mugen only did 2hp better than smsp.....
the mugen is outdated, it cant compete with the new designs like SMSP and prospeed, ****, we will see tommorrow on the dyno, but ill put some $$ that my greddy w/2.5 coll will come close to mugen #s, and that cost me $350 total.....

Having experience with this stuff on B series, I know its potential. This stuff is no joke. Its not mass produced garbage. Its not just tubing bent to fit. There is more to manufacturing an exhaust than that. Same goes with the header. When we set out to have this designed, the Mugen was our target - to produce something that outguns the Mugen and costs less. I have no doubts that this is it.
One thing to remember, though, is that to obtain optimal results, tuning is required. Not sure how many of you have ever played with a stand alone, but the H22 is an engine that benefits greatly from tuning and flow in/out. A stock H22 head flows as WELL as a WORKED B series head. Can you say overachiever from the factory. The reason many dont have good results with the H series is lack of proper complimenting pieces.
Also, keep in mind that to fully utilize any or all of these parts, you will need a decent air intake setup as well. To sum it all up, the "special" is being offered as a kind of "let's get the word out" for this. I have the faith to say that if anyone was unsatisfied, we would be more than happy to work something out.
For all of those who still have questions:
Please go and reread the email I sent out. It answers many of the questions I am getting back in response.
For those that need a cat in lieu of a RTP, add $100 to the FULL price you have.
As always, please email if you have further questions.

I will not be posting special pricing publically, as this will be a one shot deal only. There will be a discount on the package, as well as the individual pieces.
Muffler only is not available.
System weight, I would guess 25-30lbs - basing this off weight of B series unit. Its light!!!!
There will be a base and SH model.
This special ends Wed, Dec 22. All orders must be in by then. Thanks. </TD></TR></TABLE>
Maybe if Dave gets another amount of interest he may get T1R to do another batch for you guys.

This is the one I will probably be going with when I start back into my Prelude.
It is supposed to be an excellent header at a great price.
Next would be Prospeed, as well as a Greddy header w/ the 2.5" collector mod.

looks exactly like the OEM peice right down to the stamped collector, just a little bit bigger diameter. Id rather save the money and go for hytech/SMSP or turblow
