Default ek9 with JUN 3 cams??

Possibly buying JUN 3 cams and pulleys for my EK9.

The car is lightly modified at the moment, a J's racing intake with a spoon 4-2-1 manifold, cat replacement pipe and 5Zigen exhaust system.

What else should i change to fit these cams, will i need retainers/springs/valves?

Is it possible/advisable to run the standard valvetrain??

I know management will be needed, and this will be covered by getting a unichip.

any advice appreciated,

John

DO NOT run those cams on stock valve train. you will damage something. i would look into the Omniman or racket for a nice valve train.

I am pretty sure JUN recommends upgrading the valvetrain when running those cams. I wouldn't run those on my stock valvetrain, you are just asking for trouble if you plan on running high lift cams on stock valvetrain.

Running JUN 3 cams on stock internals gets a from me.

i thought the stock ek9 internals were ok for these cams?

I was under the impression that the EK9 was pretty high compression?

compression wise id say youd be o.k, not gonna get most from em but ok.

definately change your valvetrain.

i rate the unichip as have 1 myself and your on dasteks doorstep but would look into hondata or power fc as better and cheaper overall.

Compression won't be a problem...by valvetrain people mean valve springs and retainers. Your valves are just fine, no reason to swap them out. The harmonics of the stock valve springs are not suitible for the JUN 3's however, and along with stiffer valve springs you're going to need stronger retainers. I believe JUN makes both springs and retainers. Good luck

Oh, and a stronger timing belt while you're at it. Power Enterprise makes a nice piece.

thanks for that guys, thinking of going for skunk2 springs and skunk2 ti retainers as i can get these local.

Will i need to replace the valve stem seals at the same time??
