Default T3/t04e 82. AR too big for mild b16 street/track set up?

I just got the option of buying this turbo from a friend for a decent price. T3/t04e 82.

my goals for spring are 11s on street tires.

b16a crx

winter rebuild

bigger intercooler
turbo
manifold

pistons
rods
new downpipe
injectors
aebs intake manifold.

my goal is 350 whp. is this turbo going to spool way too slow? or should i go with the 63 ar?

i second this...
what compressor and turbine combo?
i mean you say t3t4e...
that could be a 46trim compressor, a 50trim compressor, a 57 trim compressor etc etc etc etc.
and a t350 stage 5 turbine, t31 stage 3 turbine, standard 76trim t3 turbine or stage 2 turbine...
and if its built by ITS then the stage 4 turbine is an option as well...
but either way a stock bore b16a has no business messing with an .82 ar housing unless yourr eving to like 9500 give or take.

your power is going to start to fall of ~8000rpm's with stock b16 cams. The .63 will pull hard to 8500 IMO.

i had a t3/04e 60 trim with the .82 backhousing. i swapped from the .63 and it gave me sickening top end. i was revving over 9k and it was still holding solid. i loved it. the spool wasnt bad either. I never really noticed a spool prob with any of my set ups. but if you can rev hi enuff to make the .82 worth it, then i would get it.

on a 1.8 motor with cams and a head that could carry it alot further...I wouldn't do it on a b16 unless it was worked...

yea if he could rev it. id think its worth it. but if you are only winding out to like 8k, id stick with the .63. you can still make really good power on that turbo

If you can handle having 15psi at 5500-5800rpm than go with the .82 a/r housing.

I would stick with the .63 thou...

If the turbo is a great price and you know it's in good shape, buy it. Exhaust housings are very easy to swap out, and fairly cheap too. Sell the .82 A/R for a couple of bucks, and buy the .63 A/R to replace it.

GARRETT T3/TO4E 60 TRIM W/ .82 A/R TURBINE

COMPRESSOR SPECS:

flow: 53 lbs/min 678cfm

.60 A/R HOUSING

60 TRIM WHEEL

TURBINE SPECS:

.82 A/R HOUSING

STAGE 3 WHEEL

standard with 270 degree thrust bearing

oil lubricated centersection.

call for internal wastegate pricing.

information from cheapturbo.com

also if i buy this can it fix my problems?

OPTION: T3 5bolt TURBINE HOUSING

add this to your order if you are needing a 5bolt turbine housing offset. can be added to any T3 or T3/TO4E.

a must have due to clearance issues for exhaust manifolds designed around the older Ford style 5bolt T3 housing.

unsure if you need this option? call us 1-877-23-turbo

That thing from cheapturbo just replaces a 4-bolt flanged housing with a 5-bolt flanged housing, it's not like buying a seperate housing. First you need to find out what stage wheel it is. Stage 3, stage 5, etc,. It's probably a stage 3 wheel. Find any local turbonetics, PTE, ITS, etc, etc, dealer, and tell them you need a T3 exhaust housing for a stage 3 wheel, .63 A/R with a 5-bolt ford discharge pattern. Should be 100-150 bucks, you can change housings with simple hand tools and you're all set.
