Default new (used) car time - what to do...

well, my 94 gsr is just about paid off and I'm trying to figure out the smartest thing to do next.

I looked into is300's and WRX's but decided that I dont really want to kill myself with a $300-400 car payment right now. I'll wait till the G35 V-spec has been out a few years for that . Thought about a used RSX-s but i dont know... that body style still hasnt grown on me even after 3 years.

That brings me full circle back to the GS-R. My '94 has ~154k and I can see a grand or so going into it in the next year to keep it running normal (power steering issues, new front axle, etc). ..plus the body looks like **** from door dings and 10 year old paint. I have a JDM Mugen front end and I'm having second thoughts about putting it on a 10 year old car. ..with the old paint, door dings, and 10 years of mechanical wear it doesn't seem smart.

-so this got me thinking about getting a 99-01 GS-R. Those go for about 11-13k right? This way I'd have a car that would last the next 4 years without major work and would look really nice with the front end (and small car payments).

What are you guys thoughts on this. What would you do?

If you want a relatively new car, u can go for it. I'd keep it and fix the door dings/repaint it and other body work needed. If you're planning on doing mods to it OBDI is good, 99-01 GSR's are OBDII.

why not 98?

and why not LS?

gsr = more insurance, higher octane gas and more theft appeal

do you really need the vtec?

98 would work, I just want low miles.

I gotta stay with a GS-R. I wouldnt exactly call it a fast car but its really fun to get on. The LS doesn't do it for me. I don't plan on modding it for speed so OBD isnt an issue.

around how much would it be for a shop to fix dents and paint the whole car? $600, $1200? Is the car capable of going another 80k?

man it would be nice to not have any car payments...

car is capable of going for a long while, as long as u keep its maintences up to spec. Yeah no car payments is nice. You can just put a new motor in if u want lower mileage? still save money? painting the whole car and fixing all dents and minor damages could cost 2,000+ or so.

I have a 94 gsr 210,000 miles original engine. JUN flywheel and cams only mods. Keep gsr for weekend warrior buy 2001 gsr for daily and put your frontend, just be careful it don't get stolen.
