Default Rods....

Ok, planning on doing a build soon i hope saw a set of eagle rods that GSRacer is selling. 200 for the set i beleive was the price. Anyway, whats the diffrence between rods from like crower to eagle or other brands? Advantages/disavantages?

This is a NA build and right now i'm thinking about getting the compression up to around 11.1-11.6 and maybe running a jun type2 cams (not sure yet, i may just go with CTR or crower makes cams alittle bigger than the CTR cams). Probably going to be doing some head porting also.

shawn-
go with the ealges the crowers are just way to over priced and more than you will ever need. and if u want u prolly wont need to buy rods i would just use JDM ITR pistons for the GSR but for 200 for the eagles why not. and as for the cams i would go with JUN 3's those cams rip

I agree...you can just use stock ITR rods for a N/A build they are strong enough for whatever compression, bolt-ons etc that you will need....aftermarket rods in my opinion are not necessary when it comes to a N/A build up...save your money...plus like BoostinDC2 said...crower are just overpriced and better known on their F/I applications...best wishes

So how much am i looking at for ITR rods?

Also any recomendations for pistons?

Guess i should start talking to A51 about a build. Hopfully they will cut me some slack on labor.

actually ITR rods are probably more expensive than the eagles...then again I havn't really checked on the recent going rate for those items...as far as pistons...many us on the board like my self are running the Endyn/wiseco rollerwaves...no complaints here and non that i know of from the other uses...but any good manufacturer is good...just how much are you willing to spend plus do you want to stay OEM...you can always use the CTR which makes I believe from recent posts like 12.2:1 in a GSR block...some one correct me if i'm wrong...

12.2 is too high for me. This is my only car at the moment and it needs to be streetable and run on 91 gas. I've heard alot of good things about endyne pistons, How much does a set of those usually cost.

how would a 12.2:1 CR not let u run on 92 gas? oh yea...while we're on the topic...how well would gsr rods hold up on 12.5:1 CR?

From what i've heard a cr that high would cause a motor to knock/ping by running a 91 octane fuel. Is this not true?

<---runnin close to 13:1 and no pinging...like I said, many times, get some one who knows what they are doing and they will be able to help you out...as far as your fears on the pinging or detonation...ret the timing a bit...although my dist. timing is set @ 16 deg.

and what also depends is what kind of piston do u want to run. if your going to run a OEM piston just stick with your stock rods but if u want to run a forged piston get the eagles. and u might want to think about a hondata i would since your going to be spending the money u might as well do it right
