Default **The hardest decisions ive ever had to make...I NEED HELP!!!**

Ill try to make this short but im still very pissed off. I just found out my car is gonna be totalled after all of my hard work. State farm isnt going to fix to like i thought they would and they want to total the car. Back in march of '04 i got into a small accident and broke my headlight which pushed the metal housing on the top back about an inch. I was going to get it fixed in March right away but i wanted to save up for the JDM front and get it fixed all at one time since i had full coverage anyway. Two weeks ago i finally took it to the body shop because i saved money and got all the parts i needed; only to learn the body shop wont fix it now because it will cost more than the car is worth. Im so pissed!!! I understand my car is "OLD" and the parts are likely to be more expensive than what the car is worth but trust me I EXPLAINED this very scnario to my agent. I asked if "i get into an accident thats fixable(like this one) will i be taken care of?" and she said "Of Course" and she re-assured me of that more than once. People who have old muscle cars have full coverage insurance and ive heard of claims where they get their cars fixed so i wanted that same coverage. Its not like you can go out and find a clean CRX around anymore and i wanted mine covered. State farms has pictures of my car before the accident and i wouldnt have wasted my money on full coverage if i thought it wasnt going to be covered. I just want them to fix it. I could understand if there was frame damage of sorts...but its basically a headlight assembly that requires un-welding the old assemly off and and re-weld the new parts on, which i guess is expensive. Here is where i need you guys help:

State farm gave me two options(as they do in situations like these): Because my car has no motor in it(because i have a type R motor at home and i was gonna put it in after the car was fixed) my car is worth about $1200. I can then buy the car back for $400 so that leaves me with about $800 to spend. The body shop estimate was $2000 to get the whole car fixed which means brand new front end painted and mint condition. I love this car to death...i mean ive spent so much money on it and wonder when enough is enough! I could realistically get it fixed but what if i get into another accident?? or what if its stolen....these thoughts were always in my head but now i have to deal with the harsh reality that i could lose my car . I shouldve known state farm probably wasnt going to fix my car...and im stupid for beliving they would but im kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place. I could get a new car with the money ive saved up. I want a DC5 but because its so expensive it would be stock for a long time and who wants a stock car???--not me. heres pics of the damage.

learn how to do bodywork,a nd how to examine the car to see what exactly needs to be done. chances are you can do MOST of ther work by yourself.

all the bodyshop should have to do for you is to tack weld the new suport on (if that is in fact all thats wrong) and spray your new bodyparts. u can reassemble and do all the rest yourself. you can even do the support yourself if u feel like bolting it down instead of welding it on.

I know what u mean cause i just bought another crx because my other one was stolen and i had so big of plans. But it all worked out in the end i got it back and someone traded me a 90 b20 teg for it in good condition. so i'll make money. Look i deal with **** like this all the time. My gf's parents got in a accident in the 87 supra( super clean) well the insurance was gonna total the car so they called bullshit and said NO if u want to do that we still got receipts on the car we will pull everything out we have receipts for then u can take it and give us blue book.

all u gotta go is move up. move up as in u dont like ur agents answer, talk to her supervisor. Dont like her supervisors talk the next one. Sooner or later ur gonna get where u want to be. This also happened to me in the 89 DX i got backed into they wanted to take my car cause it was gonna cost 2k to fix. it wasnt even bad at all i said bulshit its not going to happen and worked my way up and i got what i wanted.

Go to the cheapest body shop u can find. try that too. But if i were u id seriously tell them ok well how bought this. i take my hood, this that this, THEN u can give me 1200 cause there is no way im going to find a crx in DECENT condition for under 3000. I cant really see the condition of interior and body. But just fight ur way through and most likely ur going to get what u want. Move up through those supervisors. I mean its just like u said with the hot rods. the reason they fix those is because they add to them as in aftermarket parts so the car is worth alot more PLUS sentimental value. NO crx sells for blue book unless its trashed because of the sentimental value. State Farm is suppose to be one of the top so u just throw that in their face and say ur buisness is horrible!

This works with anything. I got my car fingerprinted this way. they didnt want to do that well i did it took almost 2 weeks but i got it done. My gf's parents got a new car and the brakes were all fucked up but they werent going to fix it for some reason so he just went up through supervisors till he got to the CO OWNER! and it was handled for sure then for free...

Keep your car, it's not that bad. You'll regret it if you do.

State-farm blows ***. When I totaled my RX7 a while back, I had to sue them, my own insurance company, to get a fair price out of them. They fold fast when you bring a lawyer, and low-ball the crap out of you if you don't. Now I'm with USAA, and it's a real no hassle company. Highly recommend them if you meet the requirements.

My car is more scared now. I have liability, about to have modders insurance. THat's what cost $$, but will give you back $$ for your car if it totals.

Bro don't let them give you the run around as said before make ur way up through State Farm and eventually u will get it fixed...Trust me if it were to happen to me even thought my car is under my gf insurance I have no doubt that she will fight until the point that my car would get fixed as you I love my car there is a lot of meaning and feelings towards my car...It's my first car so just imagine how I feel about it.
So bro just don't give up and get them ****** to get it fixed.

Best Of Luck to you brotha

Yup, just talk **** to them.

I love Mercury insurance. No hassle or anything, they did have to total out my del sol since my airbag blew, but i got a $3500 from them! The only bad thing was that my car got a salvage title. So dont be, i guess dumb like me, and spend the $$$ on cosmetics only on the motor .You drive it around for a lil awhile and then u sell your shell and buy a clean one My sol after $3500

Went from this

i should've explained this better but...the motor is out because im in the process of swaping a '97 type R motor in it. I took it to the body shop because i wanted the engine bay painted. My car is in the process of being "pimped" over this long winter so with it only being December, im in no rush. I get to drive benzes all day at work so at least i get to have a little fun being with out the rex

Im not really trippin anymore you guys but thanks for all the positive replies...it helps a lot Ive decided to buy the car back for 4 billz and get it fixed. I have the jdm front already and ive got the hook up with another body shop. IVe already been quoted for $600 to get the headlight and front end fixed
( Big UPs to Romeo for the hook-up ). That will be covered with the $800 im geting back from state farm which leaves me with $200 of state farm money. Ill get the jdm front mounted(which is easy as hell ive done one ) and then get it painted.

I hope things will work out. I just hate when thigs always seem to go well then all ofa suddens some "****" happens. It sucks...all i can do hope that things work out. Im going to the body shop to talk with them in person to get all the information i need. Ill keep everyone posted. PEACE.
