96-00 Civic hatch rear defroster question
My rear window defroster dosnt shut off untill I turn the car off.
Is this normal or is the timer/switch shot? Never had this problem with other cars, normally they shut off automaticaly after 5-10mins.Can anyone shed some advice?
Thanks

Mine shuts off automatically. I've never really looked into what makes them work, so I don't know what may be wrong, so bump for you.

I would check the circuit with a schematic. Seems with most cars the defogger shuts off / resets with the ignition but you should be able to turn it off...with the dash button. Start at the defog-switch and look for a diode in the circuit ?
It will shut off if I press the button but sometimes I forget to shut it off.
On previous cars I've owned, GM's and Honda's it would shut off automaticaly
5-10 minutes after turning it on.I just dont want it cracking my glass or wreaking my tint.Just wondering if the timer is built into the switch because if thats the case I'll just buy a new switch
