i was just curious how it would happen?? could it be from install? i dont remember ever dropping them or anything.

also, could this affect performance?

its maybe a total of like 4 of them that have marks and stuff on them. but ill double check.

You better be careful with those. Just before I sold my car, I heard this wierd tapping. It sounded so much like a spun bearing that I didn't think of checking the head. Turns out that my Jun retainers had worn, and were almost paper thin. One had cracked all along the outer edge, leaving just a small disc in the center holding the valve. The rocker was knocking against the broken piece making the horrible sound.

Titanium retainers are a wear item and need to be inspected frequently. If I hadn't caught it in time, I could have ruined my motor

thanks for the reply.
the retainers are still thick as new. a couple of them have the nicks. not sure what it could be from.

but i have seen JUN retainers with 10K miles paper thin. thats why i would check mine every 2-3K miles.
