CD Install Issue ( Nackamichi CD-400 )
Installing a CD player in my 94 325is, everything went well, all the speakers work fine except there is no sound when I play a CD - it plays (the track/timer works, I can hear it spinning) I just get no sound but the radio is fine. Faulty head unit?
If I recall from my 325i, it's something to do with the factory crossovers for the stock speakers. I don't much more than that, but maybe it'll get you in the right direction.

Hmm, nevermind then
I have a CD-45Z you could try if you wanted to. I lost the harness for the back so I can't really use it. I'm sure the harness on yours would work with it.

Where are the amps? Are these powered crossovers?
It COULD BE that the antenna up/down switch is the culprit. Does it have a power antenna or power antenna line? Some radios will put the antenna down when using the CD player, and if you have an amp that's switched on/off by that, the amp will turn off.
Something along those lines?

[e] less sucky wording

Interesting - there was something antenna related that came off the OEM tape deck that I did not use with the new one - just left it hanging back in the dash.

Ryan,
Did you wire that to a ignition-switched 12V source, or straight from the battery? If that's a switch for amps, you would want it ignition switched or your battery might die after a day or two.
