Default Generic Intakes?

I was wondering what everyone else thinks about the generic short ram and cold air intakes being sold on ebaymotors, I'm skeptical, but it makes sense to sell something so cheap without a brand name on it...plus, I don't really have 200 bucks to shell out for a damn AEM or Iceman intake...

I made my own cold air... total cost is < $70, this includes the K&N filter... these guys can probably make these intakes for all of $20.

There's no reason why you can't get one of the 'generic' ones.

I have an OBX Ram-Air intake on my car right now. I sell OBX stuff, and everything on my car is going to be OBX. Compared to DC, Greddy, Skunk, etc, OBX is generic and it has worked very well for me. It sounds good and looks good doing it. My email id is: jbmotorsports . Dont mind the current negatives, I have been out of town and told these idiots this b4 I left...apparently a lot of people on eBay cant read. They left me negative FB w/o emailing me, and then say I dont return their emails...after I told them I was out of town. Neways, what kind of car do you have? I'll see if I have any of them in stock if you're interested and I'll get you a really good price on them.

dude they all do the same thing......they all have the same simple design, just one company chooses to slandar all the others with bogus dyno figures and jack up the price....go with a top speed cold air intake for $80 and buy an AEM bypass valve if thats what you want and call it a day....they all work teh same....geeeez!!

Thanks, I have an 89 CRX Si, it's work in progress, but hey I guess you gotta start somewhere, and as for all the so called 'bogus' performance figures, and I am not saying they aren't, I'm just trying to do all the research I can on these parts, I go to school for cars, so I'm just trying to look out for myself thanks everyone!

Mista Bone, a lil more explination on what exactly that dyno is showing would help.

AEM made 8+ horsepower on top end, and a NICE spike in the middle.

Well, you also have to figure in which brand will insulate the heat from your motor as well. AEM may use a alloy that will not radiate as much heat as say a cheaper brand would.

i wouldnt buy those cheap pieces of ****. like the saying goes. u git what u pay for.

i personally use an AEM cold air intake wit bypass. which has been dyno tuned/tested for my motor.. the real names usually are backed with technology and tests. unlike those cheap **** that u never heard of.
how much does an intake actually help? not much. but if your gonna do it at all. do it right. cuz ****. for 100 bux i'll glue u a PVC intake for ya.

It says AEM vs 3 inch generic intakes.OK, I have one question is there no 2.5 inch generic intakes ? The AEM air intakes are 2.5 inches ,specifically for the performance they provide. The larger (3 inch diameter) intakes focus on mid to high end HP and Torq. ,engines that have a good bit of power to start with.

well then look at this...........

Now explain how you think size matters on high end power?

Wanna get into TUNING length?

4th,5th, or 6th transeversal?????

AEM actually does product research and designs the intake within the parameters of the engines flow. This is why there is a resonance spike in the midrange of the AEM while not on all other cold air intakes.

AEM =
