Default CRX Questions.. NEWB

Ok, I'm a newb to CRXs, and to Honda-Tech. So I guess I should introduce myself, Im Magic8Ball AKA Jason, I live in Southern California and am currently 16.

About 2 weeks ago I started looking at a CRX with a B16A swap Skunk2 Stage3 Racing Clutch. So my parents are going to look at it and am probably going to buy it. I want to invest into it so I know its uniqe and such, and I saw the OBX Valve Covers..

Does anyone have any experience with OBX? If so, are they good?

Im new so I'm limited to 5 posts a day. I'll post pictures later.

Thanks agian.

well these guys say be scared of an already modified CRX but if you check the car out then it could actually save you $$ because the swap has already been done. but as always, be careful, buyer beware.

just watch out you dont get lied too. you dont have to be rude with the seller, but make sure he backs up what he says with some sort of proof.

obviously you can read the engine block code, but the rest he should have receipts for.

how much is he wanting for the car. how many miles does the swap have on it. did he recieve reciepts on the swap of did he do it himself. if the guy says that the car is in good condition then he shouldn't mind it if you give it a little hell when you test drive it. when you get in the car, move it and then look on the ground to see if you are leaking any fluids. those front and rear main seals are a bitch to replace. also check the oil level to see if it is where it is supposed to be. if not it could be burning some. take you time looking over you new car because if you buy crap then you will hate your new purchase. and i just cant see how anyone could not enjoy owning a crx. good luck if you buy it. P.S. this is an awsome place to come and look for information, if the guys on here cant tell you how to fix it then it needs to be replaced

Thanks for the all the help guys..

The car itself has about 133K? He says the engine has 50K on it. Here's what the description says (I took it for a test drive, the speedo bounces but it sounds clean he says it burns oil at high RPMs..)

lue 5 speed Honda Civic CRX DX model, 160 Horsepower 1.6 Liter DOHC VTEC B16A engine swap w/less than 50k miles, cold air intake, full Maganflow exhaust, Stage 3 racing clutch, B&M short shifter, Skunk2 Coilovers, Alpine CD/Stereo system with subwoofer amp and pre-amp controller, 13' rims with Sumitomo racing tires, new starter motor and new valve cover and spark plug tube seals, new front left control arm. Car is very clean and has minimal cosmetic flaws, it has been well taken care of. I am in no rush to sell. I will include the full stock exhaust with cat for SMOG. Please call my home at (000)000-0000 ask for Scott, or email me at email removed. $3000 obo. VIN JHMED8354KS009967

Any suggestions?

bouncy tach is probally ignitor. Burning oil at high rpms can be a couple of things. MY advice. Get it. If its a clean shell you are ahead of the game. Plus you got a b16 that looks like it would need minimal repairs. Good place to start at.
