Default Built Engine Break-In

My cousin just got his block back from being assembled. It was built with JE Pistons that raised the compression to 11.5. We know that if he were to slap it in and fire it up it would run lean. All we have is the fuel pressure regulator with the stock injectors plus retarding the timing to fix that. He plans on using a P73 computer for the break in. Any suggestions for fuel pressure or the timing? He plans on getting it tuned once it has broken in.

This is your first mistake. After idle for 15 minutes to break in the new bearings. You need to get to a dyno right away and tune it. Breaking in a motor without a tune is asking for trouble. Too rich and you wash down the cylinder walls, too lean and you break something.
