To keep this ITR related;
As most of you know I worked at Payn for a couple of years and still consider everyone there a friend.
They have helped many an ITR owner with cars, SACKDZ, CanuckR, Snake01, Sensei, Myself and others have been tuned or help by the guys at Payn in one way or another.
This is from the other post: Keep the holiday spirit and donate if you can.
Please help these guy's out in there time of need.
It is the Holiday season so I wanted to help these guys out, I have donated $2,000 bucks to help them buy some new tools. I don't expert anyone to donate that much but anything you can spare adds up quick.
Even if it 5 bucks it will go along way.
I also have donated quite a few tools from my garage to get them started, my wife was happy to see them go!
If anyone wants to help out or donate some money you can
pay pal at Prova4re@sympatico.ca.
Thanks Flyn Brian.
Thanks
Mattj

Just read the story, that's nut. I can totally understand the predicament those guys are in because a close friend of mine has dumped thousands of dollars into his tool box in the past few years and constantly says, "If anyone ever got this stuff, i'd be fucked"

If I am not mistaken, the other post indicates that payn's insurance lapsed which indicates that they had no insurance, which in my opinion is stupid. How do you risk having no insurance on so many expensive car parts. If they had insurance, this incicdent would have been nothing!

well true maybe so, but they are going through enough problems right now with there whole situation, I dont think they really need the negative feedback, besides the employees who lost there tools were not the ones that made the descisions for the insurance... so why give them a hard time?
btw: looks like my R wont be getting tuned there for a while... if ever
this sucks

Couldn't have said it better Chris. We all need to realize what the holidays mean to each of us. I am going to do everything I can to help. Everyone just has to member that these are real working tech's. They don't own the place and their lively hood is in their tool boxes. Please help in spirit of the holiday's. Thanks.
As known by all those at Payn "Neck"

I donated via PayPal. Also, Bill, if you can get in contact with them and let me know what kind of tools they need, I have some that they need better than me. Thanks.

To all other shop owners that may see this thread here is a small tidbit of advice...
Scan copies of all of your reciepts for hand tools, power tools, tool boxes, dynos, etc.... and keep them on a zip desk seperate from your shop.
Also, apply for a business card and make all shop related purchases on that card or with a business checking account. That way your credit card company/ bank that manages the business account also has records of your purchases.
If your employees purchase their own tools, make the purchase for them on your businees card and have them reimburse you so there is proof of the purchases.
Also, take photos of your shop periodically. You would be amazed at some of the things that show up in photos after claims that you may have completely forgotten you possesed.
Sometimes just having insurance is not enough. You also need to be responsible about proving what you have. As unfortuante as it is a persons word is no longer of value to insurance companies because of how frequently claims are inflated/ exagerated.
I hope Payn Tech recovers from this ok. God bless all of you people helping them out.

this sounds crazy but if the insurance lapsed for a month or two it might be an inside job.......but i doubt that......see, why would it happen all of a sudden when there is no insurance and theyre a reputable shop?
but other than that rediculous though, tools are a tech's life..without them..theyre fucked....good luck.

I'd recommend a CD vs. a zip disk. One 'click of death' could render all of your records useless with a zip disk.

That would be fine as well. The important thing is to just keep great documentation of what you own.
