Default Power Ratings of Amps and Head Units

Hey, i just need one question answered. When you use a 4-channel amp, rated at 800watts total, and your head unit puts out 50watts X 4 (200 watts total)... what is the total power output to the speakers? Is it 1000watts total?

Im planning on using 4 - 200watt kenwood 3-ways in my integra and i have a head unit that supplys 50watts X 4. Should i be using an 800 watt 4-chan. amp?

What are some of your setups? Including brands!

NO, the output would be "800watts" total because you would not be using speaker level output of the head unit's amplifier "50Wx4". You would only be using the head unit's low level preamp (RCA) outputs.

You appear to be a noob with regards to car audio. You may want to peruse these sites for more info...

These sites will also clearly explain why your head unit doesn't really put out "200W total" of power. Very likely your amp is not putting out "800watts total" either.

[ 2,4 or 8 OHMs] continuas 20Hz to 20,000Hz, all amps will give you a rating in the spec. sheet like 100watts RMS per ch. @ 4OHMs 20 to 20,000 with THD of .05%, the sites that kontai69 are very good and you should take a look at them.

Also, telling someone that was trying to help. "BLOW ME" will not get you a lot of help 94

Calling someone a noob and then offering some very useful information is not derogitory.

People that call people noobs and then offer no help at all are a$$holes. I suggest you refer to the sites mentioned.
