which kind of wiring harness?
If i am going to run a d16z6 engine with the p28 ecu can i use my stock wiring harness in my 88 crx as long as i run the wire for the vtec or do i need to get the 92-95 harness? And where is an inexpensive place to get a motor mount kit to make the engine fit?
all D's interchange. mounts are the same. P28 is OBD1 our CRX's are obd0. so you need the conversion harness. witch converts the harness thats already in the car to be able to run the p28. you ALSO need a obd1 Dizzy, 4 wire dizzy I think, AND a 2 wire o2 thats farther down the Exaust, cause the way it is now, its reading off of 1 cylinder, number 3? or 2 I dont remember.
BUTTTTTT what would probly be the EASYEST is use the exaust from the 92-95, use the harness too. if your getting it out of a front clip, or parts car, use ALL of it, itle be soooooo much easyer.
ALSO is ur 88 a SI, DX or HF??

My crx is an si. But the engine i am buying is a d16z6 turbo race engine. this engine pulled 11.55 1/4 in a 95 civic. it comes with everything but the wiring harness i think so thats all that i was wondering about. i just read up on the motor mount situation and was happy about that. but what is a "dizzy" and where is the best place to get that and the harness adaptor? and can i still use that adaptor if i dont get the z6 harness? or do i need to try to find the harness too?
11.55 in the quarter is pretty quick. Whoever built that thing would be the first person I'd ask. Ask them what they used to power it, probably an AEM or Hondata or something and likely OBD1 since it's in a 95. You'll want to use the harness from your CRX Si and convert it to OBD1. Depending on what injectors they sent you with the engine, you'll need to add those plugs for the injectors. Maybe DSM 440s? Again ask.
The "dizzy" is the distributor. There are two flavors OBD0 and OBD1 or 2. If you are converting to OBD1 you'll need the dizzy plug from an OBD1 car. If the engine is already OBD1 (you'll know because you asked) then the dizzy that comes with the engine will be fine, you'll just need the plug for your engine harness.
Anyhow this is running on....
You need more info.
Ask the guy selling you the engine how it is set up, computer, injectors, OBD or ??.
See if you can get the computer he was running because you don't want to tune it.
Ask him if he had it set up OBD1 and what injectors are in the engine.
The easiest answer here today is,
You'll be using the harness from your car and adding or switching some plugs so that you can run OBD1.
You'll also need a conversion harness for the ECU. CRXs use OBD0 computers and the plugs on them won't plug into an OBD1 computer so they make a conversion harness that will act like an extension cord and allow one end to plug into your car and the other end plug into your new OBD1 computer.

also might want to consider how long youd like the engine to last.
11.55 is SICK if he can prove it, but drive that every day?
might not last too long depending on the internals used, and how well its tuned. either way what johnnieChimpo is eluding to is, make sure you get that ecu, or its going to be expensive for you to get that thing on the road.
good luck!

i saw the video of the 11.55 run and it was awesome. The engine has dsm 440 injectors and it will come with the ecu. it does not have the ems. it did have a haltech system on it but this was already sold. the current owner has been running it on 18 psi daily. im not completely sure which pistons it has but they are 8.5:1 with eagle rods and a knife edged crank. the engine has maybe 1000 miles on it and most of them were not hard driven. in all reality being mostly just daily driven with your normal amount of getting on it how long could i expect this engine to last. i dont plan on going over 18 psi except for track use. and what would you consider to be a good price on this engine? thanks for the info
