installed new distributor, car turned over once, then died immediately. now it won't crank...
It's been sitting for about a week now. Everything else should be working. Should i jump the battery?
But, when i do try to crank, i just get that blender-ish sound, i can't describe it any other way
And besides for the distributor, i haven't touched anything else.

The "blenderish" sound to me sounds like the starter turning, but not kicking out to engage the flywheel. Remove the starter and bench test it to see if it kicks out and turns.
I just had another idea...
When i removed my distributor, i gave the rotor a few turns just to see if the bearings had gone bad. Anyways, there was quite a bit of resistance. would it be reasonable to think that the timing belt could have slipped or something when the distributor froze?
Or would the car still crank with a messed up timing belt?
..oh, learning new things everyday

I guess anything is possible. Dizzys will have resistance when turning by hand, i just dont how much ur talking about when sayin "quite a bit," as that defintion can vary from person to person. I remember changing a dizzy on a 92 CX and the original dizzy's bearing practically seized (i was unable to turn by hand) but the force of cranking the motor over turned it. Nothing happened to the timing belt.
And when u try and start the car, do u hear something spinning really fast? If the sound u hear sounds fast, then most likely its the starter being energized, but not having any resistance or load b/c its not kicking out. Kind of hard to explain a "fast" sound but i think u get it.

But on second thought, what could have caused the car to die after it started up? Too advanced or retarded timing would still allow the car to crank, right?
I'll look into the starter thing... hopefully helms turns something up, thanks!

I dont know. just set the dizzy in the middle of it adjustment range. Where did u have it set?

sometimes when a battery is dead it gives a blenderish sound when you try to crank.
sure that batterys ok, it has been a week the car sat right?
always easier to check the easy **** first, sorry if you already eliminated this.

Stupid question, but you replaced the distributor because the old one was bad, right?
If so,how many times did you turn over the motor try'n to crank it b4 you figured out it was the distributor?
