TURBO 1.5L or LS SWAP?????????
I have an EG and im wondering if its worth it for me to do an LS motor swap or to just turbo my 1.5L? IF any one has any feed back id really like some help.
i know it wouldnt be the fastest car out, but i was thinkin that it might be cool to turbo the 1.5 just cause you dont see it very much. a turbo ls would be nice, but thats a lot of money

I hate when people say LS swaps are a lot of money.....
$800-COMPLETE LS swap
$1500-pieced turbo kit
3 starfish rims+200$-GSR Tranny
thats lookin like 2500$ for a nice fast car. Thats hopefully the price that I'm lookin at for my ride.

GSR Special Edition rims, got them off a crashed car that I bought. And look around for a swap, I bought a whole crashed LS with 70k on the clock for 800$.

Thank you sir, also the creator of the thread, you can look for a D16Z6 swap, they are cheap, better gearing than the LS, and very responsive to turbo. Its also not much heavier than the LS swap, so your car will feel as good as new.

You could do what i am in the process of doing.. Take a d15b (JDM SOHC VTEC) head and put it on a b7 block with the d15b Tranny and turbo it. The reason I am not useing the motor is because it burns oil (thanks HMO for bad EVERYTHING that came on the motor btw) and the d15b bottom end is going to be getting rebuilt in school
. So hopefully by the end of time i will be putting down around 250whp out of my lil turbo SOHC. I just need a steady job which is comming after i become a certified Mechanic
As for James (turtle) he did get very luck, I was actually wanting to buy the car but he was good and saved the money before I did...AND his dad knows the kids dad so that made it nice and good. OHHHH YA and his dad is the best mechanic in our town so Motor + Dad = Free and no hastle swap
Seems to me that James always has good luck and I just about get shafted in every way possible

Yes, Jon does get the shaft on EVERYTHING...but thats just the way he likes it.
I say since your on a tight budget, get a D16, turbo it, and your car will boogie like you want it to. The only reason I am pursuing a frankenstein/turbo build, is cause I am a power freak, unless I'm puttin down 350-400 at the wheels, I wont be happy.

last time I checked, all SOHC engines were a lot lighter than all DOHC engines. For the money though, I'd go with a z6 and boost it. check out turbod16.com, there's a guy building a 600hp D right now

A 600hp turbo D is a NON daily driver application, an LS running that kind of boost would make rediculous numbers, but it would only be good for one run down the strip.
