whats the symptoms of a bad fuel filter?

sup, just curious who had some symptoms that were fixed after they changed out there fuel filter? My problem is my car would run great one day and run like crap the other. Is this a symptom of a bad filter?

On the ones I have fixed,the symptom would be a loss of power on the freeway at about 50 mph or so.
