Default '02 civic tranny on a d16y8

Does anyone know for sure if an '02 civic ex trans will fit on a d16y8? I want the 4.4 final drive!

It's still a D series engine. It just has a larger stroke.

i found a couple of posts that say no, it is not possible.

Are you sure though? '01+ Civics use cables instead of rod linkage.

I'm sure it would bolt up to a D16Y8 no problem, but to install in a pre-'01 Civic, you'd probably have to use the cable shifter as well.

I wonder if the transmission cases are the same? You may be able to swap the 4.4:1 final drive into an older D-series trans case.

the new d17's are d series but are not compatible with any older stuff i what heard. arent those motors turned around with the intake in the front of the car, or is that only the k series?? if thats tru then they def will not work

the D17's still have the same orientaiton as other D series, as with the intake in the back, exhaust in front.

ok, wasnt sure...but i heard that using parts from one on the other wont work (d16y8 head on d17block)
would be nice if it did tho
