Uh oh.....oil on my spark plug
While removing the spark plug in the #4 cylinder i noticed that it was covered in oil. All the other ones were fine. Whats wrong? do i have a bad piston ring?? The motor runs fine but i dont want it to die on me the next day w/o warning.
is it the bottom of the plug or the top is it the part that gives spark and have you put oil in the car lately if you have did you just pour it in? friend of mine drowned his engine because he poured oil and never stopped
it is the bottom..when you take it out...the spark part. I changed the oil after that but havent checked the spark plug since. I have never just poured oil in there. I have always drained it and put a new filter on. Mobil 1 trisynthetic
I would recommend going up one heat range on the plug to keep it from missing.
Also, since you are burning oil, you should switch back to the dead dino variety.
Once the engine starts to consume large quantities of oil, (>1 qt/1000 mi) it is likely and I have experienced that synth will burn much faster. Finding yourself 2 qts low on oil is a really bad thing.
It broke my heart to switch from Mobil 1 to Castrol GTX, but I knew in the long run, I was doing the right thing for my engine. Now with GTX, I'm at 1 qt every 1500 miles.

Couldn't it be the valve guides? My car has just started to consume oil and also makes fairly bad valve ticking that gets quieter as the engine warms up.
