Default Battery might be bad, but less than a year old

I think my battery might be going bad, but I wanted to get the opinion of people on here first, seeing that the battery is less than a year old (I think I still have the warranty info and what not).

My 1992 4D Accord EX wouldn't start. Did a voltmeter test, battery was at 10.5. Gave it a jump, ran fine. Tested it while idle and everything else off, the volts sat at about 14.5. The thing that bothered me was that with defroster, lights, heat, and my after market radio on, volts dropped to 10.5, which I thought was pretty low (is it?). So I went back into the car, turned everything off, volts climbed back up.

After I turned the car off, I watched as the volts feel all the way back down to about 10.5.

Is this a battery problem? Perhaps some power is being "leaked" by my after market radio (there shouldn't be, its been in there for two years or so)?

Sounds like the alternator to me, because the car should never need to touch the battery while the alternator is providing power. Especially since the voltage dropped under full load. I'd go over to autozone and get the battery and alternator tested (should be free) and see how that turns out. Good luck though!

I would guess alternator also. I have had cells go bad in batteries though that have less than a year old. But in your case probably the alternator.
