Default i'm burning through my 16 and 18 gauge steel pipes

I'm making a custom exhaust and i don't know why i'm burning through the pipes. I'm using the red top tungsten and it's about 3mm out of the ceramic tip or i was told that it might because of my electrode. What should i use when welding thin metals? i have a daytona mig pocket pulse tig welder..if that helps..

yeah, turn the amps down. if you have a pedal regulator/on-off switch that will help a lot.

if your scratch starting, have a buddy or someone at the dial. basically you'd want the amperage where you can hold it in one spot for like 20 seconds and not burn through.

^ Disagree. There is a right and wrong way to do things. If that guy welds pipe like that i bet i could give one of his welds one wack with hammer and it would break right off.

did i say his was right or wrong no read understand think about what your typing

I understand that you are the welding expert mr hammer wacker

obviously @ the opposite ends of the spectrum there is a right and a wrong but if he is producing a good weld and has acclamated to do it a certain way then so be it.

i know i don't weld exactly the same as our welder does (and his is damn near perfect) the way i do things is just more comfortable for me.

There isnt one way to do things its not cut and dry done deal.

and if your saying a weld doen wtih 30 amps will break i will be mroe then happy to send you soem stainless i welded for you to wack away at

But i guess its wrong to have your own methods

10 amps? thats it? I weld 16 gauge steel/stainless steel @ 75amps but usually the pedel is all over the place to keep the weld smooth and consistant.

There's 2 ways to do everything. My way and the wrong way.

Oh...and 10 amps isn't going to weld it well, if at all.
