Do I need these?
The Carbon Canister and the Vacuum thingy...do I need those? (I live in Florida, no emissions tests!)
I'm doing a D16Z6 swap and as you can see, the only left in the engine bay is the D15B1 block. Thats coming out tomorrow
and the D16Z6 along with 4th gen Si tranny are going in tomorrow

Without the diagram in front of me, I think that vaccuum "thingy" partially helps (i believe) in the control of the fuel pressure regulator... so if you take that out you'll run more rich and possibly foul up your plugs and dirty up everything. Generally it's not a good idea unless you're running particularly lean.
as for the charcoal canister I know people skip it a lot when they do swaps, but keep in mind these engines are designed to have those regulators in tact for normal operation... so unless you're boosting or doing something else where you'd need massive amounts of fuel or air, I'd say leave them in. The gain you get from taking them out with a stock engine isn't very big or even existant.

the charcol canister is so you dont have any unburnt fuel vapors go into the atmosphere...a lot of people in the auto-x forum take it out it seems...

So... take out the charcoal canister and leave the vacuum thingy?
Or remove both?

The black tall canister is your charcoal canister, remove it.

yes then it can all go like mine is.

No need to be a douchebag. We pulled it off my brother's b16 because it was leaning out the fpr. So taking it off does have some side affects. It's looking for a certain vacuum pressure that's no longer going to be there from that valve. It doesn't hurt anything to take it off, but generally taking it off doesn't help much on a stock D16Z6. That's all I'm saying.
If you're running a much bigger engine then was intented for that emissions part (i.e. KidHonda's b-series) or you buy an aftermarket IM or something it'd be stupid to leave it on. But generally for stock IM, cam, timing, exhaust, etc you're not going to notice a difference without it. It'll look cleaner, however... so the choice is yours. Either way it won't matter.

Chill man I wasnt trying to be a *** to anybody I was refering to the guys that always say BS when they havent done it themselves, I wasnt even talking about anybody in this post or anybody in general I was just saying since most people try and say all the problems removing this stuff will cause when they have not done it themselves nor do they even know what the parts they are talking about do.
No anger ment

heh it's all good... you do have absolutely the cleanest engine bay ever
you should relocate it to the rear, the only thing cluttering it up now is the engine itself.
Either that or relocate the brake booster. (if either were feesable) Do you have a post on what you did to move all the electrical and what-nots?

Kid-Honda. You should do a write up on how you got your bay/firewall so clean. This is something I like to do this winter. Any pointers would be very helpfull.

Can this charcoal cannister and the other thingy be taken off my 89 civic dx if i live in NY? Or do i need it for the test we have, which i have no clue about. Oh ya my engine is a d15b2, but hopefully swap it with something..
I took mine out because it was never even plugged in. 99-00 civic si throttle body I put on my intake manifold didnt have the vacume port to plug it in, so I trashed it. No CEL here..
I dont mean to hijack your post by any means..but was interested because ive been looking at those ugly things for awhile..So anyone know if i can take them out with a d15b2 engine and living in NY?
again not trying to thread jack but on a b16 there is red hose going from under nieth the canister, what does it plug into? i live in california and need to get ber certified? mine is cut and i can find any were for it to go?
