ive got a pretty heavy duty, very old Linde Tig. pretty sure its a 300A, monsterous machine. works well but when the selector is set for pedal heat control, it barely arcs and doesnt seem to have any range of adjustment. set to panel, it works fine with the heat ****, but ofcoarse, is limited.
the pedal consists of no more than 1 switch and one potentiometer, or perhaps theyre called rheostats. the pot seems to be working, as it varies resistance from about 3-9.. i should go double check what scale i had the meter on now that i think of it.
anyways, inside the welder there is continuity to the back of the plug, its reading the same resistance change as the pedal cord outputs. the double throw 6 pin selector switch appears to be okay but then again i have no schematics or knowledge of what should be where in this welder, and the components in there look like they could give me a pretty good zap if i get too nosey.
im clutching at straws, but do any of you oldtime fabbers have any ideas or suggestions? perhaps the resistance range on my pedal is too small?
thanks in advance.
